The film begins with the family walking around Cleethorpes, before the children go on donkey rides on the beach. They walk along the sea front and go on the miniature railway.
In Hull, a barge comes along the River Hull, and under the Iron Bridge, which the family crosses after it shuts. Cyril Elliot, in his boiler suit, meets his two daughters near the docks, where they watch the ferry and other boats. They take a walk around Queens Gardens, and then sit on the grass near their home near Humber Place. This is followed by footage of the Market Place, near Holy Trinity Church.
Back to the beach in Cleethorpes, there is a playground, with the fairground lit at night. The “Lord Nelson” boat is seen and fireworks at Skegness. At Butlins there is a children’s ‘beauty’ competition, a carnival, a man on penny farthing, some comical races on the beach, and a boat ride on the waterway through the gardens. There is also a sack race, and they go in the crooked house and have ice creams.
