This is the second part of a two part film showing the West Yorkshire village of Sharlston celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977.  The part of the film shows the village carnival, a fair with competitions and dancing, and a Jubilee cricket match. Intertitle – Saturday 9th July  Two women stand next to a Reliant Robin, a “plastic pig”, which is covered in royal decoration.  People stand outside their terraced houses as a man dressed as a chimney sweep goes around with a collecting tin.  A carnival goes past, also all in royal decoration and Union Jacks, with some people in fancy dress.  A Salvation Army Band leads the procession of floats, with also a youth band and a highland band.  The procession continues along a country road.  A West Riding bus is shown displaying a banner for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee 1977.  One of the floats is of coal miners, another for “Coal into the 21st century.”  The procession does a lap around a field on the outskirts of the village where there is a miniature railway.  The procession comes to a halt and there is a children’s fancy dress parade, with the Mayor on hand to present prizes.  There is some traditional country dancing, and then the adult’s fancy dress competition.  This is followed by various children’s races, including an egg and spoon race, and then a dog display.  Then there is a model airplane display. A blackboard has written on it: “Jubilee Cricket.  New Sharlston v Sharlston”.  There is a boys’ cricket match, after which the boys are presented with a box of sweets.  The boys pose for the camera.
