Saturday 4th July. Street Parties: Queen’s Crescent and Woodland Crescent
A table stands in Queen’s Crescent with a crown on it and a banner in celebration of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. Flags have been rigged up going across the road. Tables have been set with cakes and other goodies, around which the children are sat, while the adults sit at their own tables.

The families in the street stand in front of tables laden with food posing for the camera. One woman proudly stands in front of a large cake.

Again the children are seated around tables laden with food, and all, children and adults alike, wear party hats, some waving Union Jack flags.

Four elderly women and an elderly man take food from a trolley and pass it into a house.

Parade for Jubilee Service at St Luke’s Church
The parade, headed by a Salvation Army Band and the Girls Brigade, makes its way along a street.

People are in a large decorated room, with children seated at a table going around the room laden with the usual cakes etc.

There is a cricket match between a male team and a team including women players, wearing non-cricketing clothing, with much larking around.

There is another, more orthodox, cricket match, with one team representing a West Indies XI.

Jubilee Dance: Choosing Of Jubilee Queen’s Attendants
Children stand around the perimeter of the school Hall and parade around for inspection by some local dignitaries. They then all have a dance, before some are selected and have a sash put around them declaring “Queen’s Attendants”.

Teenage girls walk around the Hall, each holding up a number and then line up to be judged. The one selected has a golden sash placed around her and a crown is placed on her head.
