Title – Unveiling of the Rawmarsh and Parkgate War Memorial.
By Col. Stephen Rhodes, D S O Sunday June 3rd 1928.
A line of dignitaries pose for the camera.
Intertitle – Designed by C H Hutton Esq of Bolton. It is a fitting tribute to those who gave all, and a monument of which we may be justly proud.
C H Hutton and two other men pose for the camera. The new memorial is shown draped in a Union Jack. A large crowd has gathered at the site, including many children, and they watch as a procession, led by clergy, arrives. Servicemen stand to attention at the front.
Intertitle – The Unveiling
The Union Jack flag is pulled down.
Intertitle – Dedication by Dr Burrows, Lord Bishop of Sheffield.
The Bishop gives speech to the assembled crowd, followed by a band playing. Wreaths are laid at the foot of the memorial. The crowd is then allowed to file past, many laying flowers.
Intertitle – But let us not forget. Having achieved its object it was reverently buried here.
The space in front of the monument is shown, planted with bushes.
Intertitle – May it rest in peace with the secrets of its makers buried with it.
