This is one of a series of films made of the 4th Battalion Duke of Wellington Regiment at training camps in the late 1930s. This is the first of two films of the Regiment at a training camp near Scarborough, showing their arrival, various exercises, cooking, and fire fighting.
The film begins showing a truck in the camp, having written on it, “James Milhench, General Carrier, 4 Lancasters, Mossley”.

The regiment arrives marching into the camp, along with a group of Boys Brigade.

Troops unload weaponry from a horse drawn wagon in a field and set up several machine gun positions.

Army cooks work at a long line of coal-fired cookers situated in the field.

The sergeants sit and stand around their own separate cooker.

The sergeants are seated in a large tent – their mess room. Following this, a group of the Boys Brigade is marching in the camp.

A military band marches across the camp.
Intertitle – Sugden Trophy Competition, a demonstration by the Training cadre of the regimental depot.
A group of soldiers demonstrate setting up a machine gun position, lying down, while the rest of the regiment watch.

Soldiers have a race whereby, beginning with just shorts and vest, they have to put on the parts of their uniform as they race along a track, and arrive properly dressed. Then officers, seated at a desk, hand out wages to each soldier in turn as they approach the desk.
