The film begins showing a truck in the camp, having written on it, “James Milhench, General Carrier, 4 Lancasters, Mossley”. Intertitle – Scarborough from the camp. There is a view looking towards Scarborough in the far distance. Intertitle – Arrival of the Battalion. 21st July. The regiment arrives marching into the camp, along with a group of Boys Brigade. Intertitle – Evening of arrival in camp.  The deserted lines. The tents are shown lined up in the camp. Intertitle – Support Company, (Halifax) on training.  Action from limbers. Troops unload weaponry from a horse drawn wagon in a field and set up several machine gun positions. Intertitle – Around the camp.  The men’s cookhouse. Army cooks work at a long line of coal-fired cookers situated in the field. Intertitle – Sergeant’s cookhouse The sergeants sit and stand around their own separate cooker. Intertitle – A peep into the sergeant’s mess. The sergeants are seated in a large tent – their mess room.  Following this, a group of the Boys Brigade is marching in the camp. Intertitle – Officers’ mess staff at work? A group of elderly soldiers are standing around, and a couple are seated, peeling potatoes. Intertitle – Beating “Retreat” A military band marches across the camp. Intertitle – Sugden Trophy Competition, a demonstration by the Training cadre of the regimental depot. A group of soldiers demonstrate setting up a machine gun position, lying down, while the rest of the regiment watch. Intertitle – Visitor’s Day.  Sunday 28th July.  The Band. The military band plays in the campsite. Intertitle – The Visitors arrive Family and friends of the troops arrive and mill about. Intertitle – A diversion A sports car pulls a toboggan around the camp with two soldiers on board. Intertitle – Guard mounting parade The military and groups of soldiers parade around the camp with the visitors watching. Intertitle – Beating “Retreat” The military band marches across the camp. Intertitle – “B” company (Brighouse) at company sports. Soldiers have a race whereby, beginning with just shorts and vest, they have to put on the parts of their uniform as they race along a track, and arrive properly dressed.  Then officers, seated at a desk, hand out wages to each soldier in turn as they approach the desk.
