This is one of a series of films made of the 4th Battalion Duke of Wellington Regiment at their annual training camps in the late 1930s.  This is the second of two films of the Regiment at a training camp at Wathgill, near Catterick, showing various exercises, games and their departure. Intertitle – Return from church parade.  Gen. P A Turner, C.M.G. takes the salute The colonel and another senior officer walk across the camp and stand and watch as the regiment marches past. Intertitle – Inter-platoon football match (B&W)  Troops stand around the perimeter of a make-shift pitch at the camp to watch the game, some of which is filmed.  Afterwards, a soldier sits holding a notice for the regiment Orderly Room next to the Regiment notice board, while another soldier sits next to him with his son on his knee. Intertitle – View of camp from Richmond Road The large camp is seen in the distance. Intertitle – Brigade route march.  The Reeth Road. (Col. v. red) The road is filmed from a slow moving vehicle. The regiment is then seen marching along the road with the officers on horseback, followed by two boys. Intertitle – The G.O.C. in C. Northern Command, takes the salute (B&W)  They continue marching down a country road, with the band at the front. Intertitle – Guard mounting and fire picquet parade Troops line up and stand to attention in the campsite, with some of them parading. Intertitle – Drill competition (Savile bowl) The troops are lined up in the camp doing their drill, presenting arms and marching off.  This is done twice. Intertitle – Finish of cross country run About a dozen soldiers on the run are shown crossing the finishing line. Intertitle – Brigade L A competition (Lewis gun) A group of soldiers stand by the Lewis gun while others rest.  There is an officer who is seated on a folding chair and smoking a pipe.  They practise running across a field, setting up the gun whilst lying down and firing. Intertitle – End of camp. Battalion parade. The troops stand to attention in lines. Intertitle – Presentation of trophies by C.O. An officer is presented with two cups and a shield, whilst another officer receives both a cup and a shield. Intertitle – Embussing The troops board a line of United buses in an orderly fashion. Intertitle – Goodbye to Wathgill The buses drive off while a group of remaining soldiers wave them off. Intertitle – Refreshments en route They stop off and take a rest near a fishing tackle shop, Todd and Sons, with officers posing for the camera, and a sergeant pouring himself a beer, which is then passed around for others. Intertitle – Halifax once again A view of Halifax is seen from the station, looking across some railway sidings, and then the front of the station which is packed with children. They stand and watch as the troops march off from the station.  There is a brief shot of a man holding his hand up to the camera in a hall where the troops are lined up. The End.
