This is a film made by Edward Warburton of a family holiday tour of the Highlands of Scotland. The journey is traced on a map as they go along.
The film begins with a pointer tracing a journey on a map of Scotland, going from Nairn through Inverness, past Loch Ness to Mallaig. A green car (reg WLE 822) is parked up, and there is a coastal view. A woman sits in gorse, taking a photo of Peter Warburton by the sea. The woman taking the photo gets up and sees that she was being filmed. The woman, Mrs Warburton, Peter and another man (Charlie Thomas?) walk along the cliff by the shore, looking out at the scenery. They take a coastal boat ride. A man with a Bolex 16 mm cine camera films the view as they journey.
The next leg of their holiday is again traced on the map, taking them up to Poolewe. Their car gets hoisted onto a ferry, and they sail along the coast to their destination. Here, the car is lifted off. They tour the small village and board another two-car ferry, at ‘Stromeferry’. They continue their journey, filming the landscape. There is a RAC road sign for Mellon and Udridgle, 3 ½ miles. They walk along the shore, taking photos, and Peter looks out with his binoculars (unfortunately there is a hair on the camera lens during this part of the film). Mrs Warburton holds the cine camera on a tripod. They stop by the water’s edge to have lunch, including fried bread. The film finishes with water cascading a mountain stream.
