Intertitle – Luss – on the shores of Loch Lomond, where we visited the Highland Gathering.
The film begins looking over Loch Lomond. Following this, there is a field where the games are taking place and a Highland band is playing. First up is weight throwing competition, followed by wrestling. Three girls pose in their Highland costumes, and this is followed by a girl’s Highland dance competition. The next game is the caber toss. There is some film of a village and of the loch again.
Intertitle – Then on through Glen Orchy . . .
Mrs Warburton and her son Peter walk along the side of a river where a man is fishing.
Intertitle – and through Glen Coe.
There is a view across the Glen.
Intertitle – . . to Oban.
There is a view over Oban.
Intertitle – McCaig’s folly.
They go up to the folly, looking down on the town.
Intertitle – We sailed from Oban, up the Sound of Mull, to . . .
They sail along the coast, past the Western Isles Hotel and land near Macbraynes Tobermory. Travellers and goods get on and off the ferry before it moves on.
Intertitle – . . to Staffa . .
They board a packed smaller boat and do a tour of the island, looking at the unusual rock formations.
Intertitle – Fingal’s Cave.
They go up close to the cave entrance before moving on.
Intertitle – and so to Iona.
They continue on their boat trip, stopping at the isle of Iona, visiting the church and Iona Abbey and the Ridge of Kings.
Intertitle – . . . back to Oban . . We took the boat to Seal Island in the hope of seeing some of the inhabitants.
They take a boat tour of the island, seeing seals in the sea and on land.
Intertitle – Easdale – once a busy centre of the slate industry.
There is a view of the coast, with a brief glimpse of Peter. Mrs Warburton and some women walk by as they wander around the village.
