This is a film belonging to the Parkin family collection. It shows a boys scout camp and a short clip of the Parkin family children.
It begins with a man exiting a tent. He is dressed in scout uniform. He begins to wake boys up in other tents. As they get up and out of their sleeping bags, they wash their faces using a bucket full of water. A boy is dragged out of a tent by two other boys. The scouts start cleaning and tiding the campsite. They are seen in their scout uniforms, standing in an orderly line in front of their scout leaders. Next, the boys’ equipment is inspected. They stand in groups of five, each holding a flag, with their equipment neatly piled on top of their sleeping bags. As the scout leader approaches each group they salute him. There are scenes of a flag break and a tuck shop. The scouts are swimming in a river. There are shots of them running and diving into the river and floating on small rafts made of wood and rope.
This is followed by a group of choirboys in a church singing as they walk down the aisle. There are shots of the interior of the church.
The next scene is of a ‘Court of Honour’ scout meeting. The boys are then shown in a gymnasium playing boisterous games such as British Bulldog and piggy back fights. At the end of this they all gather round a piano and sing together. There is a shot of a banner that reads: "Glass Houghton. Be Prepared. (St. Paul's)" with a scout symbol. The scout leader waves and talks to the camera.
This scene cuts to the Parkin children at home. The little girl, Jennifer, is at the kitchen table, eating; Richard is seen building a house out of Legos or plastic bricks. There are then clips of them individually smiling at the camera.
