It opens with Leeds Bradford Airport; there are shots of aeroplanes waiting on the tarmac. The next shots are taken from the interior of the plane: down the runway, the take-off and up in the air. The flight’s destination is Düsseldorf.
Following this, there is a cut to some footage of children jumping into a large swimming pool. The next section is filmed from inside a car, driving down a motorway.
Back in Germany, there is footage of streets where trams, cars and, cafes and people are seen. The German friends or relatives to the Parkin family sit at a restaurant with a lake view. They are then seen sitting on a fence in a field by the roadside. There are various shots of destroyed buildings and some new, modern buildings. This follows footage of a monorail and the surroundings. Taken from the inside of a cable car the views of the mountains and the countryside can be seen.
Next there is a football match at a stadium, filmed from the stands. A short shot of a market square is shown next.
An old Volkswagen car boards a ferry. A man and a woman are then seen walking along Mohne Dam in Germany, taking photographs.
Next there is a scenic image of a large lake in Mohnesee. A shot of Schloss Neuschwanstein is seen with its surrounding scenery.
At the airport, the German friends or relatives to the Parkin family sit at a café and wave goodbye. There are more aerial shots of the countryside and the coastline.
This is followed by more footage of children in swimming pools.
It cuts back to Germany footage: a monument, a church and a shot of the TV Tower in Dortmund. A street scene with trams, buses , and motorbikes. The group are in a large park which has a statue, a tower and a large fountain. Cable cars circulate above them, as they walk towards a fountain display. There is a lake with flamingos and a garden train drives through a grassy area.
This is followed by footage of a car driving along a suspension bridge, filmed from inside car. A quick shot of a toyshop window is shown.
Back to more footage of Germany, possibly in Cologne now, there are shots of the River Rhine. A shot of a castle on a hilltop: Winneburg, and its scenic surroundings.
Some of the previous group are sitting around a table drinking beers. The film ends with another shot taken from the inside of a car, driving to the top of a hill.
