This is a film made by Dorothy Langshaw of the children of Westfield Infants School in York, where Dorothy was the Headmistress. It shows the children at Christmas performing a nativity play.
The film begins with a model of the nativity and other decorations around a Christmas tree as children sing the ‘Twelve days of Christmas’ in the background. Children, dressed as angels, sing ‘Once in Royal Davids City’ as they walk into the school hall, followed by other children dressed to enact a nativity play. The play is performed by the children, interspersed by the singing of carols. Afterwards the children all group together in front of the Christmas tree, which is then seen lit up with electric lights as the sun goes down, and with the children singing ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’ as the film comes to a close.
