Nature Matters Screening: Grow and Gather

As part of Redcar Palace’s current ‘Grow and Gather’ exhibition, we are heading to the coast for our latest Nature Matters film screening.

Grow and Gather is an art exhibition presented by the Redcar Palace, which explores the theme of gardens, allotments, growing, and the joy that these spaces and activities can bring. At the heart of this exhibition is a newly commissioned series of photographs by Joanne Coates which pay tribute to growers, cyclists and dog walkers at Zetland Park Allotments in Redcar, and the communities that live around them. It is running from 3rd June to 22nd July 2023.

As part of Nature Matters we have also been looking at gardening in the archives, from private gardens to window boxes, and giant leek competitions to organic farming. To watch a series of curated films on this topic read our Home Grown blog, and see people's different interactions with growing.

The screening will explore the changing environment of our region and will also include some exciting new footage as part of our Nature Matters contemporary collecting strand.
